Supercritical Injection Modeling by an Incompressible but Variable Density Approach

نویسندگان

چکیده

Supercritical nitrogen jet behavior is modeled using an incompressible but variable density approach developed for jets. Following mechanical and thermal breakup concepts, several injection conditions relevant to liquid rocket propulsion are analyzed, considering heat transfer in the injector. Regarding axial distributions, different levels of agreement with experimental data encountered potential core, subsided plateau formations. Further comparisons compressible formulations from literature a good indicator proposed methodology’s suitability simulation supercritical behavior.

Gauge-Uzawa methods for incompressible flows with variable density

Two new Gauge–Uzawa schemes are constructed for incompressible flows with variable density. One is in the conserved form while the other is in the convective form. It is shown that the first-order versions of both schemes, in their semi-discretized form, are unconditionally stable. Numerical experiments indicate that the first-order (resp. second-order) versions of the two schemes lead to first...

Modeling Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Injection in Heterogeneous Porous Media

We investigate the physical processes that occur during the sequestration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in liquid-saturated, brine-bearing geologic formations using the numerical simulator TOUGH2. CO2 is injected in a supercritical state that has a much lower density and viscosity than the liquid brine it displaces. In situ, the supercritical CO2 forms a gas-like phase, and also partially dissolves i...

eutrophication modeling using variable chlorophyll approach

in this study, eutrophication was investigated in lake ontario to identify the interactions among effective drivers. the complexity of such phenomenon was modeled using a system dynamics approach based on a consideration of constant and variable stoichiometric ratios. the system dynamics approach is a powerful tool for developing object-oriented models to simulate complex phenomena that involve...

An hybrid finite volume-finite element method for variable density incompressible flows

This paper is devoted to the numerical simulation of variable density incompressible flows, modeled by the Navier-Stokes system. We introduce an hybrid scheme which combines a Finite Volume approach for treating the mass conservation equation and a Finite Element method to deal with the momentum equation and the divergence free constraint. The breakthrough relies on the definition of a suitable...

Approximation of variable density incompressible 1ows by means of 3nite elements and 3nite volumes

This work describes a projection method for approximating incompressible viscous 1ows of nonuniform density. It is shown that unconditional stability in time is possible provided two projections are performed per time step. A 3nite element implementation and a 3nite volume one are described and compared. The performance of the two methods are tested on a Rayleigh–Taylor instability. We show tha...
